Your attention to every detail was extraordinary. During our time of loss you made the process so smooth and manageable while our hearts were breaking. Thank you to every staff member who represented our Father with respect and dignity in his passing of this life to his heavenly home.

Very professional and caring business. They waited on some of payment which helped.

The husband of one of my wife's aunts died on Wed 2/18/2016, and his visitation was at Hutchens. Obituary notice said that family members only could be there from 3:00 - 4:00 PM. That was fine with us, and we drove the 25 miles from southern Illinois to get there, arriving at 3:40 PM. We were "greeted" at the door by two women dressed in red, employees of the funeral home. To our surprise, shock, and general negative feeling, one of the women immediately challenged us: "I imagine you are not family members." What the heck?! How would she know WHO we are, and what difference would it have been if we weren't? My wife was definitely hurt by the challenge and I didn't like it myself. My wife explained that the widow was one of her aunts and they let us in. When we got in, we found family members, including the widow and other people we recognized, and they were all glad to see us. It is a large, clean, beautiful funeral home, but it sure doesn't need to be staffed by grouches who challenge people coming to pay respects to people in mourning! I have never before been challenged like that, and hope we never will again.

I never thought I would be writing a review of a mortuary but there are many good things that these people did for myself and my family when my Dad passed in November..He was in the Marine Corps and Hutchens Mortuary followed through with all their hearts and support until his ceremony at Jefferson Barracks in late January. From the memorial at the mortuary to the cremation to the military funeral, these people really were very supportive and focused on our needs down to the final detail..A special shout-out to Mike O'Connor and rest of your staff..A simple thank you is not enough...You people were the BEST

Twenty years ago, when the good people at Hutchens took care of things when my mom...& then dad passed, I was so impressed by their compassion, great kindness to our family, & attention to details. Most every time I go there...even now, I witness that very same quality of service. I would recommend them wholeheartedly.
